D.R. Horton’s New Home Deals are a Smash During Final Weeks of Tax Credit Eligibility

According to the First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit website, located at www.federalhousingtaxcredit.com, qualified first-time homebuyers have an opportunity to receive an income tax credit of up to $8,000 – a credit that does not have to be repaid. Buyers who have not owned a residence in the past three years also may be eligible for the tax credit. Additionally, the tax credit is available for homes purchased before December 1, 2009. According to the website, the available credit is equal to 10 percent of the home’s purchase price, up to a maximum of $8,000. For the purposes of the tax credit, the purchase date is the date when closing occurs and the title to the property transfers to the homeowner.
