Six More Discovery Series Homes Now Under Construction Within D.R. Horton’s Pritchard Point Community

Jacksonville, FL — December 31, 2009 — D.R. Horton is pleased to announce that construction is now underway on six additional Discovery Series floorplans within Pritchard Point, its popular single-family community located on Jacksonville’s Westside. Remarkably priced from the $120s, this “Quick Move-In” inventory offers some of the best housing values in the area.

With rural, natural beauty at its forefront, Pritchard Point residents are welcomed home with an extended, lush entryway lined with beautiful trees and privacy fencing. This well manicured landscape is the perfect backdrop to the builder’s diverse collection of homes. It includes street lamps, sidewalks and city utilities.

As the nation’s number one builder of affordable, quality residences, D.R. Horton offers 18 stylish floorplans ranging from 1,206 to 3,402 square feet. Spacious new home designs within Pritchard Point feature three-, four- and five-bedroom plans, each with a generous two- or three-car garage.

“It’s still a great time to buy a new home, especially since you can own for less than you can rent,” said Lauren Eastman, sales manager for D.R. Horton Jacksonville. “Excellent price points, buyer incentives and specialized loan programs make homeownership now easier than ever.”

Savvy homebuyers are taking advantage of the Federal Housing Tax Credit, which has been extended to April 2010. According to the First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit website, located at www.federalhousingtaxcredit.com, qualified first-time homebuyers have an opportunity to receive an income tax credit of up to $8,000. Qualified move-up homebuyers who have lived in their current home for at least five consecutive years out of the last eight years may be eligible to receive an income tax credit of up to $6,500. These tax credits do not have to be repaid.

The tax credit now applies to homes purchased on or after January 1, 2009 and on or before April 30, 2010. However, for binding sales contracts completed by April 30, a home purchase completed by June 30, 2010 will qualify. Visit the website for income requirements and additional details.

“First-time homebuyers also can take advantage of the Florida Housing Bond Program, which includes many great features and can be combined with other government funds,” said Eastman. “The program includes Florida Assist, whereby qualified buyers may receive second-mortgage assistance of up to $7,500, and possibly get into a new home with only a $500 deposit. Program qualifications are based on income, credit score, job history and other factors. Home shoppers should visit the Pritchard Point sales center for more details.”

In addition to some of the hottest housing opportunities in Jacksonville, Pritchard Point homebuyers also can enjoy all standard closing costs paid, excluding lender required prepaids, when using one of D.R. Horton’s preferred lenders.

Pritchard Point’s recreational amenities package includes a refreshing pool with sundeck and cabana, children’s playground, and multi-purpose greenspaces perfect for sports and family fun. Conveniently located just across the street is a 15-mile bike and jogging path.

With close proximity to I-295 and I-10, and situated just west of the St. Johns River, Pritchard Point is nearby to a wealth of local recreation. The 832-acre Jacksonville Equestrian Center and Cecil Recreation Complex each provide plenty of family-friendly fun.

“The community also is nearby to great business, medical and educational districts,” said Felix Castillo, new home consultant for D.R. Horton Jacksonville. “Business and industrial hubs, such as Chaffee Point and the Cecil Commerce Center, offer many fantastic job opportunities, as does Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Orange Park Medical Center and the Orange Park Mall.”

Golf enthusiasts can challenge themselves at the Panther Creek Golf Club, the Golf Club of Jacksonville and West Meadows Golf Course, to name a few. The St. Johns River offers plenty of year-round water recreation.

Downtown Jacksonville and Orange Park are filled with popular sports, music and outdoor entertainment venues, such as Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, Metropolitan Park, Orange Park Kennel Club, independent campgrounds and more.

D.R. Horton continues to enjoy its well-earned reputation as an industry leader in innovative new home construction and sales management. Its exceptional portfolio includes a diversified mix of world-class single-family residences and multi-family communities. Currently, the company builds in 27 states and 76 real estate markets, and it enjoys the number one ranking in the nation for closings by Builder magazine for the seventh consecutive year. D.R.
