Nocatee to Host “HOWL’oween Dogs In Disguise” Costume Contest to Benefit S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue of St. Johns County
Jacksonville, FL — September 30, 2009 — With a reputation for hosting some of the most well attended events in town, master-developer The PARC Group is extending to the public an open invitation to “HOWL’oween in Nocatee”. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, the Nocatee Farmers Market will be the host site for a “Dogs in Disguise” costume contest benefiting S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue of St. Johns County. The event will take place in the Nocatee Community Park.
Pet lovers will not want to miss this free outdoor event featuring fun games, cool treats for dogs (and their humans) and prizes for the winners of five contest categories: Cutest Costume, Scariest Costume, Best Costume Duos, Best Dog/Owner Look-a-Like and Best in Show. Guests are invited to bring their canine companions for a day of pet-friendly entertainment.
“With an entry fee of only $5 per pet, we anticipate a high level of participation and interest from our residents and neighbors,” said Portland Swan, marketing director for The PARC Group. “Proceeds from the contest will benefit a local pet rescue organization. Pet adoption opportunities also will be an important activity during the event.”
Founded in September 2008, S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue, Inc. of St. Johns County operates with the goal of saving adoptable Northeast Florida dogs and cats from euthanasia. The organization’s efforts are focused on rescuing adoptable pets from facilities that are unable to house them indefinitely. In its first year of operation, S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue has saved over 500 animals.
Local pet lovers can adopt or foster animals, volunteer time or make donations to benefit S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue. All pets are spayed/neutered and vaccinated prior to being adopted. Cats are FELV/FIV negative and dogs are heartworm tested. The organization requires a $60 adoption fee for cats and a $75 adoption fee for dogs, which helps to cover its costs of pet care. Sponsorship opportunities for “HOWL’oween in Nocatee” also are available. Current sponsors include Petco, a leading provider of pet supplies and services; and Pet Doctors of America, a trusted provider of the finest possible veterinary services for your pet.
“In addition to enjoying outdoor shopping and fun activities, we hope that visitors will receive valuable information about this worthwhile organization. Perhaps some visitors may even consider giving a good home to a rescued pet,” said Swan. “Not only are Nocatee events tailored for entertainment, they also serve as our way of supporting and giving back to our community.”
